Tuition at BTS
Birmingham Theological Seminary is committed to making theologically faithful graduate education
accessible. BTS tuition is already approximately one-fifth the cost of comparable institutions, and
qualified students may apply for additional scholarship assistance each year.

We are committed to bringing quality academic theological education to learners everywhere.
Who Decides
All general scholarship awards are administered by the BTS Financial Aid Committee. Total annual institutional scholarship support is capped at $100,000.
How to Apply
- Apply for admission and be accepted to a BTS degree program.
- Submit a Financial Aid application through the BTS website.
- Meet the deadline for the applicable window (see below).
- You will be notified of a scholarship decision by email.
Application Deadlines
Primary Window — Fall Awards
• DMin Early Application: May 1 (decisions by June 1).
• General Application: July 1.
• Late Application: August 1 (includes a $50 late fee).
• All awards finalized by August 15 for the upcoming academic year.
Secondary Window — Spring (New Students Only)
December 15 – January 15, subject to remaining scholarship funds.
Renewal
Graduate scholarships are awarded for one academic year and must be reapplied for annually. Postgraduate (ThM and DMin) scholarships are continuous for the duration of the program, so long as the student maintains continuous enrollment.

Need-based scholarship for graduate and postgraduate students taking two or more courses per semester (one course for DMin and ThM students). Requires an annual application and is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
A pastoral-studies research assistantship funded by the Reeder Center endowment. Up to ten awarded annually to students in the MA in Pastoral Leadership, Master of Divinity, or DMin (Pastoral Leadership, Church Vitality, or Chaplaincy). Requires three courses per semester (one for DMin), a 3.0 GPA, and work on the Reeder transcript database project.
Faculty-initiated full-tuition opportunities to support scholarly research or course instruction. Openings are publicized when a faculty member requests a funded assistant. Requires three courses per semester and a 3.0–3.5 GPA.
BTS partners with HLI (PCA) to support future Hispanic pastors, church planters, and leaders.
For employees and supported missionaries of Briarwood Presbyterian Church, Briarwood Board- Directed Ministries, Briarwood Christian School, and Campus Outreach. Proof of employment required; ongoing while employed in a certified Briarwood ministry.
